The best time to plan is relatively obvious, although can be too late for many if they think that they should do it in their low season.
Ideally, planning should commence at the end of the peak season, so, for retailers and hospitality businesses this should commence at the end of summer. For manufacturers, it should be done before the factory re-opens in the new year. For professional services it should be in November to December when decisions of their clients slow down and they want to hit the road running in the first weeks of the new year.
What I have found is that business owners pace themselves to Christmas without acknowledging that this could be the most valuable time for them.
